Unusually Minimalist Villa Four Cornered For An Ascetic Lifestyle

Located in Virrat, Finland, the Four-Cornered Villa faces north and east, gathering views of tall, slim surrounding trees through each glazed wall. This constructs a sequence of spaces splendidly oriented towards framed views, making it appear like a dramatic play of dark and white, light and shadow. Avanto Architects worked on this successful project for two years, and clients were more than happy with their new crib. With a flat roof hinting towards a one of  modern architecture’s main features, the dark house is completely hidden from view when seen from the nearby Vaskivesi Lake.

Many Lessons in Lawang Sewu, Semarang

Online Tabloid HOUSE team is doing coverage in the four cities with the theme "Tour de Architecture". This time we visited the city of Semarang which has one of the famous buildings that are in the meeting Pandanaran Road and Street Youth, Semarang. Elongated shape of the building department with the door tightly lined up most of the longest side of the building, across the floor.

Many stories are circulating about the scary sloping building. In fact, the building is arguably the high-tech building in his time. Horror stories do exist, especially when the building was used as the headquarters of the Japanese army and its basement area used as a prison as well as the slaughter room.

This beautiful building is the brainchild of renowned Dutch architect, Prof. Jacob F. Klinkhamer and BJ Queendag. which was built in 1904 and put into use in 1907 as the NIS office. Function is as a center of private companies owned by the Dutch Railways or Nederlandsch Indishe Spoorweg Naatschappij (NIS).

Many interesting about the design. Starting from an elongated shape, and has a door that very much (although not reaching one thousand). Sewu term appears to analogize the lot number. Sewu unit in the Java language is the largest unit. A lot of doors for air circulation is intended to be smooth.

There are interesting from the design of the door. The door consists of three layers. The outer layer (which is often seen) is a folding door with a wooden lattice. Then there was a door in the middle layer "koboy" and on the inside there is a sliding door. Unfortunately, having been left empty for years, many doors are missing. Hinges are still the only remaining evidence of the existence of three layers of leaves this door.

Japanese Inspired Interiors

The Zen-like qualities of space, open floor plans, natural materials, and nature inspired neutral color palettes are Eastern civilization qualities of Japanese interiors in which we love our interiors to be infused with these same aesthetics. If you’re trying to bring Japanese inspiration into your home, here are tips to bring details into your home, which reflect this influential decor style.  If you’ve ever been attracted to the clean lines of modern and minimalistic qualities of decor and interiors, most likely that inspiration stemmed from traditional Japanese interiors.

In Western civilization, the tendency to place furniture closer together and in abundance is the opposite in Eastern civilization. Open spaced floor plans that keep walls to a minimum and embrace views to the exterior are a quality to bring into your home. Japanese interiors embrace nature and views, and having open floor space between furniture and the built environment around your interiors will naturally make your space feel lighter and less weighted down.

Bringing in authentic pieces of decor will help you quickly change your interiors into Japanese infused spaces. Consider laying down tatami straw mats on the floor to cover wide floor areas. They are a beautiful backdrop underfoot and double as attractive ways to bring in flooring texture. Shoji screens or translucent fusuma screens are the traditional rice paper screens that can be used to separate areas of a room, or are used for gorgeous backdrops in your interiors. They serve to screen out harsh light and can also be used for window treatments. Bring these decor ideas into your space to transform the lighting and to bring instant Japanese details into your interiors

Japanese interiors embrace natural materials such as bamboo, timber framed carpentry, and dark metals such as iron, and rock are all significant aspects of Japanese interiors. In your home consider bringing these materials into your spaces, such as the kitchen, bathroom, and main living spaces. Bamboo wood floors, accent walls made from flagstone, or river rock, and simple lines in the architecture of your home, can mimic the Japanese aesthetic for your space. Let your furniture mimic these same materials, and keep them low to the ground. Furniture that is minimalistic, simple, and has strong horizontals aspects are common for Japanese interiors.
